HOW IS THE WORK-BASED LEARNING COURSE DELIVERED?

Understand The Expectations of Work-Based Distance Learning Course

MODE OF LEARNING

Learning at Work courses are delivered via Distance Learning. This means you can study remotely from anywhere. Unlike a typical full-time university degree course with time-tabled lessons each week, the Learning at Work courses are not structured as such. The courses are offered via online lectures and tutorials. Scheduling or timings are advertised throughout the course and are not at set times each week.

Apart from the online instructor-led taught courses, some of the learning modules require self-study where the learner has to read materials, watch videos, conduct research and use the tutor for guidance and support.

The above follows that you do not need to apply for a UK Student visa to enter the UK.

STUDYING WHILE WORKING

Because the subject you are studying is required to relate to your work, you must satisfy the Learning at Work programme requirement of being in employment. The mandatory work-based project component of your course is not a desk-based dissertation but rather requires that you conduct activities (whether practical or theoretical) and research within your employer's organisation. Your project must be connected to your employer and job role and cannot be a project that you wish to study but has no connection to your employer.

The work-based project or projects must be current projects and cannot be projects completed in the past or using a report written for another qualification. In essence, while the project focuses on enabling the learner to gain new learning, it is also expected to have an impact on your workplace such as finding innovative solutions to a current problem.
